A huge THANK YOU to Martin Melvin for arranging for contractors to in-fill the eroded area of the top playground last Saturday and to all those dads (Martin, Pat, John, Grant, Les, Chris, Steve and James) who turned out on Sunday to perform the onerous task of laying the astroturf. Phil was a great quizmaster, Pat and Grant enjoyed their night off and we raised £347.
Sunday 7th October, from 10am
As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the playground we are looking for some strong chaps to lay astroturf in the top playground.
On Saturday the eroded ground by the trees along the fence is going to be in-filled and levelled by contractors. On Sunday, weather permitting, we need to lay the council-donated astroturf. The rolls of astroturf weigh one and a half tons… so we need at least 10 volunteers to complete the job. The current astroturf in the middle playground has proved extremely popular with the children. Let’s make a difference to the top playground too.

The first social event of the new school year is our ever-popular Quiz Night. Regulars will know that it’s an opportunity to get together, have a drink, supper and a chat and maybe try your hand at a few questions if you feel like it. You can take it as seriously as you want…which tends to mean two or three teams vying for the trophy and the rest just along for a pleasant night out. This time we’re giving our regular Quiz masters Pat and Grant a rest, so it’s over to Phil Taylor to see what he can throw at us.
If you’ve never been before, have a chat with a few pals and make your own team or come along on the night and we’ll find a group for you to join. Non-Hyndland parents & friends are also very welcome! P1 parents can speak to Linda (Katie’s mum) in the P1 playground to find out all about it.
Buffet Supper is included and we welcome any contributions, savoury or sweet, you would like to bring along. We’re also looking for Raffle Prizes. All money raised goes to help the school. Our current focus is playground improvements.
Tickets can be purchased from Jane in the main playground or by putting the correct money in an envelope marked Quiz Night along with your child’s name and class and posting it in the Parent Council box next to the school office. Cash or cheques payable to Hyndland Primary School Parent Council.

Last year the Christmas Fayre raised over £3300, which went towards playground improvements, fixing smartboards and many other things that benefit all the pupils at Hyndland Primary School.
Lots of people get involved in what is a great day.
We are looking for parents/carers who might be able to help organise the event, from sending out emails, or asking shops for gifts to sell, to helping out on the day.

The next deadline for Scholastic book club orders is Friday 5th October. Please either order online at http://clubs-school.scholastic.co.uk/hyndland-primary/ or via the order form at the back of the catalogue sent home. Remember, for every £1 you spend, 20p goes back to our school to spend on much-needed books for our library.
